Running a screener is easy in Stock Rover. Simply click on the screener of interest in the Navigation Panel and it will run automatically. The results will be listed in the Table, Chart or Insight Panel. The screenshot below shows this process.
Please note the screener results automatically update when auto refresh is on and the screener is selected in the Navigation panel. Please see this link on how to turn on auto refresh.
The Screener Manager in Stock Rover is used to create, manage, modify and delete screeners, all discussed in subsequent sections of the help. You can also run a screener from the Screener Manager as described below.
To run a screener from the Screener Manager:
To run the selected screener from the Screener Manager, click on the ‘Run In Table’ button.
This will bring you to the Table and create a new view called Screener Filters where the columns are the criteria (filters) used in the screener.
Each time you run a screener, it runs with the most recent market data and pricing data. Consequently screener results can change each time you run the screener. If you would like to “freeze” the results of a screener, the screener results should be saved in a Watchlist or Portfolio. To do this, click the ‘Actions’ pull down menu at the top of Table, then select ‘Save Table as…’ to save the returned list of tickers as a Watchlist or a Portfolio.
When ‘Save Table as…’ is clicked, a new window will appear where you can name the Watchlist or Portfolio. If you want to track the performance of the screener results going forward it would be a good idea to add the date the screener was run to the name of the watchlist as see in the example below. If you would like to make any changes to the results, click the ‘Customize’ button to edit the results.
You can run multiple screeners together, displaying the tickers that pass all of the selected screeners.
You begin by clicking on a Screener folder or subfolder. When you do that checkboxes appear next to the screeners. You can then selected the screeners you want to run via the checkboxes.
The Table below is displaying all of the tickers that pass the selected screeners.
Many users are interested in running a screener, and then running a second screener on the results of the first screener.
The first step is to run the initial screener and display the results in the Table. In the example below the Buffetology Inspired screener has been run and loaded into the Table.
To run the second screener, you right-click on the desired screener in the Navigation panel. In this example it is Growth at a Reasonable Price. Then you select either the option to Filter Table or to Score Table. For more detail on these options please see the Screening the Table section.
The results of the Score Table option are being displayed in the screenshot below and we can see the tickers who scored a 100%. These are the tickers that passed both screeners. The title at the top of the Table is highlighted and displaying the names of the screeners. It is showing the results of the Buffettology Inspired screener was then scored by the second screener Growth at a Reasonable Price.
If you chose the Filter Table option then you can right click on a third screener and select the filter option to run an additional screener against the results from the previous screeners.
