Alerts Overview

The Alerts facility allows you to receive a text or email alert when something happens in the market of interest to you. Common cases are a stock or ETF exceeding or falling below a set price point, price increases or decreases that exceed thresholds, an earnings event, prices hitting pre-set target prices, prices crossing moving averages, prices reaching or getting near new 52 week highs and lows. You can even alert on things like the P/E or the P/S of a stock exceeding or falling below a certain level, dividend yield exceeding or falling below a specified value, as well as unusual levels of volume.

Alerts can be set on stocks, ETFs or even indices such as the S&P 500. You can also set alerts on all stocks in a portfolio or watchlist. To access the alerts facility, select Alerts under Research Tools under the Start Menu.
