We created an updated set of watchlists that we think will be of interest to the Stock Rover community. The watchlists contain a number of different investment candidates across a diverse set of qualifying criteria. The watchlists were created on January 1st, 2024.
Each watchlist contains an interesting set of tickers that follows a specific investment theme. Together they form a good starting point from which promising investment candidates can be developed.
In addition, there is a companion set of screeners that can be run to create the set of passing stocks for the associated investment theme at any time. Each screener, when run, will generate a list of tickers that corresponds to the screener’s mission in life: for example, finding the top 25 stocks in the S&P 500 by dividend growth.
Any of the new Watchlists listed below can easily be imported into your Stock Rover account from the Stock Rover Investor’s Library as shown in the screenshot below.

The worst 25 S&P 500 Performers in 2023 – January 1st to December 31st.
These stocks were found with the Novy-Marx Quality screener, which looks for quality stocks as measured by gross profits over total assets, momentum as measured by 1 year price change and value as measured by low price to book ratios. This screener also filters out stocks with very low market caps and trading volumes. These were the top 50 stocks returned when run on January 1st, 2024.

Note all of the above watchlists have historical counterparts that are also available in the library. They have the same name as the above watchlists, but end with the earlier date period they cover, for example, Top 50 Dividend Growers – Jan 2023.
Importing the older version of each watchlist, and then seeing how the stocks or ETFs in the watchlist performed over the historical period can give you a really good idea on the relative success of the associated investment strategy in the current market climate.
The companion screeners that generate the stocks and ETFs that are the members of the new watchlists are listed below.
Any of these Screeners can easily be imported into your Stock Rover account from the Stock Rover Investor’s Library as shown in the screenshot below.
Note: The screeners listed below require a Premium, or in some cases a Premium Plus Stock Rover account. The Plan column in the following screenshot shows the required plan.
The new watchlists that have been added to the Stock Rover Investors Library can give you a great head start to find some interesting investment candidates in 2024.
When you consider a given watchlist as a source of possible investment ideas, be sure to take the second step and import the corresponding historical version of the watchlist into your account. Then you can see real world data on how the watchlist has performed from its inception until now.
Looking at the historical performance will give you a good reading on whether the watchlist contains stocks that have good momentum and are performing well in the current environment. Or conversely, have negative momentum and are performing poorly. In either case, the information can be helpful to indicate what is working and what is not working and aid you in making more informed investment decisions.
Nice New Year’s present. Thanks!
